Happy Friday, my festively frozen foodie friends! It’s that time again, episode 5 of Kiss My Veg has arrived! We’re getting our soup on today! It’s colder than a witch’s titty outside and WE NEED HOT SHIT! My Christmas decorations are up, I’ve already watched Bridget Jones twice, and my Christmas Eve menu planning is under way. Who are you to judge me!?!?! Seriously, though, let’s hunker down, make some WICKED vegan/GF soup and bring the first week of the holiday season to a gastronomically thunderous close. Let me know your thoughts damn it!
Happy day-before-Thanksgiving-craziness to my magnificent meat-free mavens! This week we’re talking vegan/gluten-free pumpkin pie and NON-vegan French whipped cream! I’m posting two days early so you guys can watch BEFORE the madness of Thanksgiving takes over completely. Laugh, wear more funny hats, make wicked food and do a little DANCE! Wishing all of you a fabulous Thanksgiving (or ThanksGAYving as it’s known in my circles) and a safe and homicide-free Black Friday!
Happy Friday, my free-range foodie freaks! Episode 3 of the Kiss My Veg Cooking Show has arrived! We’re talking VEGAN RISOTTO this week! Happy Friday, bitches! Episode 2 of the WILDLY popular (amongst my friends’ moms, anyway) Kiss My Veg cooking show has arrived! Ok, you plant-based prissies out there, I have FINALLY uploaded the first episode of the brand spankin’ new Kiss My Veg cooking show (watch it now!)! I want your feedback, ideas, comments, questions, etc.! Some upcoming show themes- garam masala, gazpacho, risotto! My plan is to post a video to my YouTube channel every Friday but for now it’ll be every other Friday as I winnow down some of the other projects I’m working on. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts! Excuse me while I go eat gluten free chocolate cake and watch Chopped. Who are you to judge me!?!?!
I LOVE this episode of The French Chef. Watching Julia do veggies is a dream! Any vegan/vegetarian chef/cook who doesn’t utilize the grand knowledge of Julia is MISSING OUT. If you have Amazon Prime Instant Video you can watch every season of the show, it’s like going to cooking school! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, just substitute butter olive oil for Julia’s butter and you’ll be honoring her in your own vegan way! Okay, off the Julia Child/Respect Your Culinary Elders soapbox for today…homework beckons
Meet Karrie Brown, she’s a 17-year-old model who just got a gig with Wet Seal. She also has Down syndrome. Karrie’s mom discovered that Wet Seal started carrying plus-sized clothing, which according to Karrie’s Facebook, is a great fit for girls with Down syndrome.
Karrie started sharing photos of herself on Facebook in different Wet Seal outfits and it turned into a petition to get Wet Seal to feature Karrie as one of their models.
Karrie describes her personal style, FYI, as “biker chick.” Due to all the attention Karrie was getting online, Wet Seal contacted Karrie and flew her to California for a photoshoot.
As of Monday, Karrie’s modeling page has over 20,000 likes. Karrie’s mom was worried that during her photoshoot she’d get nervous, but Karrie was a natural and asked the photographers to put on some Justin Bieber while she took photos.
Karrie had a blast modeling, but it isn’t all she wants to do when she grows up. After high school she plans on attending college with the hopes of maybe splitting her time between modeling and being a librarian. Which sounds pretty great, to be honest.
Today is the official U.S./Canada publication day for my fourth novel, Inheritance, the sequel to Adaptation. I am so excited for you to read the conclusion of Reese’s story!
Writing Inheritance was one of the most fun writing experiences I’ve ever had. That’s not to say I didn’t have frustrating moments and extensive revisions (there are always revisions!), but because I’d already established the characters in Adaptation, with this book it was simply easier for me to put the characters through the story. It was also a lot of fun because Adaptation and Inheritance are basically a giant mystery, and I love mysteries. It was challenging and entertaining for me to figure out how and when to reveal the clues.
As I posted last week, I’m traveling to Austin, Texas; Portland, Oregon; Seattle, Washington; and Denver, Colorado over the next month to do events, and I hope you’ll come out and see me! I’ll bring my beautiful character postcards and bookmarks and Bin 42 stickers for everyone. If you’re not in those parts of the country and you still want a signed book, as always you can get one from my local bookstore, Book Passage.
So, if you’ve ever lived in Texas you know that we put ranch on EVERYTHING. Pizza, sandwiches, fries, falafel, whatever! My first girlfriend thought that habit was positively DISGUSTING but she seemed to have no problem gulping down strawberry soda which I find objectionable at best (she was from the west coast). I digress. This vegan ranch is super easy and unfailingly pleasing to all present, even Texans.
